Cover for the publication "Deaf People in Albania in 2015: A Survey Study"

Do deaf Albanians have access to information, education, employment, or public services? In response, a 2015 survey gathered information on deaf people in Albania. Researchers interviewed hundreds of deaf people in the country. Deaf people helped plan the research. They also helped share the results.

In 2013, Albania ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). In consequence, the government talked about recognizing Albanian Sign Language. They also realized the need to gather information about deaf Albanians. The last chapter of the survey has recommendations for improving deaf rights in Albania. For example, it recommends using sign language in education. It also recommends using sign language to improve access to information.
